Night Owl's CDROM Door
Users Guide

1. Introduction
Welcome to the Night Owl's CDROM Door. You will be amazed at how
quickly you can search the entire CDROM to find the files you are
most interested in downloading.
Each prompt in the door has a context sensitive help screen to
guide you through the doors functions. After you view a help screen you will
be returned to the prompt where you can make you next command selection.
2. Disk Selection Menu
If your sysop has more than one version of the Night Owl's CDROM
installed, you will see a menu from which you will chose the CDROM you
want to view.
NOTE - If there is only one CDROM installed you can skip this section
and go on to section 3.
Disk Selection Menu
This menu displays all of the Night Owl's CDROM collections
available for you to choose from.
Your Options:
- Select and type the disk number you want to view
- Type 'Q' to exit the door
3. Main Categories Menu
After making your selection from the Disk Menu the Main Categories
screen will be displayed.
NOTE - If your sysop has only one CDROM installed this will be the first
screen you will see.
Main Categories Selection Menu
This menu displays all of the file categories available to you on
the Night Owl's CDROM you have previously selected.
Your Options:
- Select and type the category number you want to view
- Type 'Q' to exit this CDROM
- Type 'S' to perform a Text Search
- Type 'U' to view the User Built directory created by your
last Text Search
- Type 'D' to download tagged files upon returning to PCBoard
4. File Selection Menu
After you have made your selection from the Categories Menu
you will be shown the File Listing for that category.
File Selection Menu
This menu displays all of the files available to you in the category
you have previously selected.
Your Options:
- Type 'T' to tag a file for download upon return to PCBoard
- Type 'V' to view the contents of a ZIP file
- Type 'D' to download tagged files upon returning to PCBoard
- Type 'Y' to see more files in this category when the more
prompt appears.
- Type 'N' to return to the Main Category menu when the more
prompt appears.
5. Tagging A File
When you have found a file you wish to download you will need to
Tag it so that when you return to PCBoard it will be flagged for you
automatically
- Type 'T' to begin the tagging process
Tag file prompt
This file name prompt excepts the name of a file you want to tag
for later download upon return to PCBoard.
The file name is of the format: XXXXXXXX.YYY
Where:
XXXXXXXX is the file name from 1 to 8 characters in length
YYY is the file extension 1 to 3 characters in length
If no extension is provided a search will first be performed
with an extension of ZIP. If the file is not found a search will
be performed without the extension.
6. Viewing a file
When you have found a file for which you want to see the contents you
will use the view command.
- Type 'V' to begin the viewing process

This file name prompt excepts the name of a ZIP file you want to view.
The file name is of the format: XXXXXXXX.ZIP
Where:
XXXXXXXX is the file name from 1 to 8 characters in length
ZIP is the file extension
If no extension is provided a search will be performed
with an extension of ZIP.
7. View ZIP File Menu
After you have selected the <V>iew command you will be shown the
contents of the selected ZIP file.

This menu displays all of the files available to you in the ZIP
file you have previously selected. to view.
Your Options:
- Type 'R' to read a text file contained in this ZIP file
- Type 'C' to create a new ZIP file for download
- Type 'D' to download tagged files upon returning to PCBoard
- Type 'Y' to see more files in this category when the more
prompt appears.
- Type 'N' to return to the Main Category menu when the more
prompt appears.
8. Reading A Text File
While you are using the <V>iew command you may wish to read the
contents of an ASCII text file.
- Type 'R' to begin the reading process

This file name prompt excepts the name of a text file you want to read.
The file name is of the format: XXXXXXXX.YYY
Where:
XXXXXXXX is the file name from 1 to 8 characters in length
YYY is the file extension 1 to 3 characters in length
An exact file name search is performed.
The reader does not display executable or bitmapped image
files.
9. Create New ZIP File
While you are using the <V>iew command you may wish to create a new
ZIP file containing a subset of the current ZIP file you are viewing.
- Type 'C' to begin the ZIP creation process
You will be prompted to Include each file in the ZIP file in your new ZIP file.
- Type 'Y' to include the file
- Type 'n' or press <ENTER> to exclude the file
The Door will then rezip your chosen files and tag the new ZIP
file for download.
10. Downloading Tagged Files
When you have completed your file selecting with the <T>ag
command you are ready to begin the download.
- Type 'D' to begin the download process
Download File Menu
This menu allows you to return to PCBoard where the files you
have selected using the <T>ag command will be flagged for
download.
Your Options:
- Type <ENTER> to exit the door and flag the tagged files for
download
- Type 'Q' to quit this menu and return to the door
